Press Release: Red Lightning Launches Lahaina Surveying Coordination Program

Lahaina, HI — January 22, 2025 — Red Lightning, a non-profit organization dedicated to community recovery and resilience, is pleased to announce a new initiative aimed at providing surveying services to homeowners impacted by the devastating 2023 Lahaina fires. Working in coordination with The Salvation Army, HCL, and implementing partners, the program is designed to expedite the surveying process for affected residents through bulk batching, resulting in economies of scale.

No-Cost Surveying Services for Eligible Homeowners

Homeowners in need of these survey services are encouraged to fill out an eligibility form available through the following link on Red Lightning’s website:

Program Overview:

Eligibility: This program is for homeowners directly impacted by the 2023 Lahaina fires who are still seeking surveying services.

Step 1: Complete the Eligibility Form at the provided link.

Step 2: Shortly after submission, an ROE (Right of Entry) and Funding Referral Form will be sent to applicants.

Step 3: Upon approval, Red Lightning will schedule the survey with implementing partners. (Please note: there is no guaranteed time frame; availability and speed will depend on the number of applicants.)

Step 4: Sign the Final Receipt form (which may be required in Kahului).

While services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, resources are limited. Red Lightning reserves the right to reschedule or deny applicants depending on the timing of implementation and available funding or resources.

Wave 1 Deadline: Applications for Wave 1 must be submitted by February 25, 2025.

Survey Deliverables: Approved recipients will receive survey drawings detailing topographical and boundary data for their properties. Please note that this is not a cash grant or reimbursement program, and these services are non-transferable.

Information Sharing: The information provided on the eligibility forms will be shared with Red Lightning’s implementing partners, including case managers, potential funders, and surveyor teams, to efficiently process applications and coordinate the surveying work.
